PostHeaderIcon The Foundation

The Wheatt Foundation founded in 2004 is an umbrella organization for many music related projects. Two such projects are the Cleveland Soul Historical Society and the restoration or the memory of Leo’s Casino. The Wheatt Foundation has been instrumental in bringing awareness, education and support to the music community in the Northern Ohio area.

These projects and programs have been endorsed and supported by many well know individuals, foundations and corporations.

We believe in the transformative power of music. In order to preserve and broaden our programs within the community, we seek corporate contributions for sponsorship, partnership and philanthropy to underwrite our programs and events.

The Foundation is alarmed at the disappearance of music programs in the public schools. We recognize the important role music plays in each student’s development.

We strive to make a difference and “give music back” to our children, joining us in our efforts to revive music education please donate.

Leo’s Casino was truly a unique Cleveland venue that was world-known.  The greater Cleveland area should not let it be forgotten.  The Leo’s Casino Program is a musical presentation and award ceremony that educates youth and others regarding diversity and  how it was accomplished in the Cleveland area.  The program is also used to solicit musical instrument donations, volunteer music and other arts instructors and scholarship funds.

The Wheatt Foundation and Hall of Fame Productions, Inc. are collaborators, sponsors and producers for the Leo's Casino R & B Hall of Fame & Museum

Ten albums for newbies, the hated Cabaret Card and composer/arranger Gil Evans' centennial.
  • The Harmonica-Playing Baron Of Belgium
Whistling guitarist and harmonica master Toots Thielemans has played in everything from Charlie Parker's band to commercials for Old Spice. In his childhood home of Brussels — really, throughout his homeland — the celebration of his 90th birthday is on.
  • Why One Saxophonist Covered His Idol
Steve Lehman's new album Dialect Fluorescent ends with a song called "Mr. E," a composition written by jazz legend Jackie McLean. But the connections run deep between Lehman and the alto saxophonist he considers a personal hero.
